Ready to buy that Sailboat?
Find out what it's worth
Accomodations:
THE FOLLOWING WAS WRITTEN DIRECTLY FROM THE OWNER TO THE LISTING BROKER JUST BEFORE THE BOAT CAME TO ANNAPOLIS ON 10/06/08: EASY TO SHOW AT PETRINI'S SHIPYARD IN EASTPORTI guess the boat is best described as a basic Cape Dory 36. It has only a depth finder (which needs a new display module) in the way of electronics. The sail set (main, staysail and jib) are 3 years old and have been used 3 - 4 times at most. The mainsail is full batten and has a Dutchman sail flaking system. It has two reef points, although I'm not sure I rigged up the reefing line after we got the new sails - you might want to check that if it's important. The asymmetrical spinnaker is very eye-catching and has been lightly used, probably no more than 20 times. There are two sheets for the spinnaker in the forward cabin near the sail. While the boat is 25 years old, we have used it very little (probably 10 times in the last 10 years. It started out in a sale/leaseback program on the West River. The program went bankrupt shortly after we bought the boat, and it has had only our personal use with a couple of friends sharing it many years ago for a couple of seasons. The boat is a great family boat which we used for family vacations around the Bay (it has never been used anywhere except the Chesapeake Bay). It sleeps 5 very comfortably. We had no problems using the ice box and alcohol stove/range. The toilet is brand new, installed this Spring by Tiffany Yachts. Tiffany also replaced the batteries this Spring. Mechanically, the boat is in great condition as a result of the Tiffany work - I spent over $12,500 to get it in shape over the winter. As you will see, it needs a new set of interior cushions. Also, from a display standpoint, you might want to replace the halyards. We get a lot of pollen down our way and while all of the sheets are relatively new, the main and staysail sheets either need to be thoroughly cleaned or replaced.
