1966 CUSTOM Explorer/ Research Vessel, This 80 meter former research vessel of the German Navy, is very suitable for conversion into a Mega and Explorer Yacht. The vessel is powered by a reliable and efficient diesel electric drive with four MWM main engines and an electric motor on the propeller shaft. The main engines are totally enclosed and especially mounted. Thus the vessel drives almost noiseless and free of vibration. The main engines are overhauled completely. The vessel is provided with a helicopter hangar, landing strip area, Skylounge, and a mega sun deck. Plans for updating and conversion are available. Further technical details which make the vessel suitable as Megayachtt: stabilizers, active rudder, two cranes up to 5 tons, extremely durable hull (Finland ice class) and a range of approx. 12,000 miles. Accomodations:
In addition to crew quarters, and the main laboratory, this ship is well equipped for extended voyaging. Galley, Pantry, and laundry are updated and 3 separate refrigeration compartments designed to hold meat, fish, vegetables, milk and cheese and beverages. Meterological station. Mechanical Equipment:
The reliable and efficient Diesel electric drive system was designed and built to demanding Navey specifications. Recent overhaul included the (4) MWM main engines and electric motor on the propeller shaft. The main engines are totally enclosed and especially mounted which makes them noiseless and free of vibration. (1) Auxiliary KHD Type F12 L 714 diesel engine 167hp @ 1,500 rpm with emergency 90kw generator. (1) Lateral Pleuger jet rudder - thrust 1.65 tons. (1) Active Pleuger rudder - thrust 1.65 tons. (1) Fixed pitch propeller with 5 wings. AEG Telefunken shaft power, 1,020 kw. AEG Generators each 460 kw, effecting on 1 propeller-drive engine. (1) AEG electro-hydraulic steering gear with Saped rudder.
