Accomodations:
The interior of Australia is spartan and the open interior with 6' headroom allows full inspection of her aluminum bare hull & alloy floorboards. Her layout is open from stern to collision bulkhead with no accommodations except a head, sink with cold water, and Esky refrigerator. Imagine the possibilities if you wanted to update all or some of the interior with more civilized amenities!
Mechanical Equipment:
The Yanmar 3 Cylinder model Y3T84 Diesel engine and all mechanics were thoroughly checked & serviced as part of the 2004 major refit. The Gearbox was rebuilt in 2004. The propeller is a 3 blade Auto Stream.
Galley:
"Australia" is fitted with an Esky Refrigerator, but has no galley. There is one sink with cold water. There is plenty of open space available to fit a large galley.
Electonics and Navigational Gear:
The B&G Networked Electronics are are suitable for coastal sailing and include: Compass: X 2, B&G Depth Sounder, B&G Speedo & Log, B&G Wind Speed/Direction, VHF Radio, AM/FM/CD Stereo, Barometer/Clock.
Electrical System:
The 12V and shorepower electrical systems were refitted and updated in 2004 and include: 3 x 12V batteries, Battery Charger, 12V Panel with individual fused circuit breakers.
Sails and Rigging:
Australia has a powerful fractional rig with a total Sail Area of 1,801 sq. ft. The aluminum spars, double spreaders, and rod rigging were removed, carefully inspected and tested, painted, and upgraded in 2004. All running rigging was replaced at that time. Headsails are hanked on and the mainsail has Fredricksen cars to facilitate hoisting and lowering the mainsail. WINCHES: Lewmar: 2 x Headsail Grinders 3-speeed, main 3speed, runners 2 x #65, traveller 2 x #19, halyard 2 x #48, & 1 x #28 Barient. Spinnaker Pole. Anchor: Danforth with chain & nylon rode. Life Rafts: 2 X Carly Floats. Life Jackets: 30. Life Buoys: 2. Epirb: Danbuoy. Emergency Tiller. Sails: Australia has a fully battened Mainsail (new in 2005) and a full inventory of headsails. A total of 23 Spare Sails are available (some shared by "Steak & Kidney"). Mainsail: fully battened with Fredrickson cars (new in 2005) Jib: #3 - poor condition. Genoa: #1 - good condition. Spinnakers: 1.5 oz Fractional, 2 x Symmetrical. OTHER SAILS: Spares of various sizes & weights - little used.

1977 STEVENS 12 METER AMERICA'S CUP YACHT, This is a rare opportunity to own "Australia," 12 KA-5, the recently refitted 1977 12-Meter America's Cup Challenger built by Steven Ward that was defeated (4-0) by Ted Turner's Courageous in 1977 and returned in 1980 only to be defeated by Dennis Connor'Freedom.
