Price Reduced!!!Halvorsen Marine Ltd., of Kowloon, Hong Kong introduced the Island Gypsy 36 in 1977. As Jack Hornor, of Marine Survey and Design Co., has noted, "The hull of the 36 is hand-laid fiberglass cloth and resin with molded in seams to give the appearance of a carvel planked wood hull. Bronze capped rub rails below the sheer and above the waterline that protect the hull from pilings. Engine stringers are fiberglass encapsulated hardwood with aluminum channel caps. The hull to deck joint is bonded with fiberglass and resin and secured with screws on 6" centers. The result is a very stiff, solidly constructed yacht."The decks are constructed of fiberglass and resin laminate with hardwood stiffeners glassed to the underside. This Island Gypsy has teak planked decks. Because the builder did not use plywood or balsa wood core in the deck structure, water soaked and deteriorated deck cores, commonly associated with teak overlaid decks, should be minimized for a boat this age.
