Owner Comments:After many years of sailing, sometimes, short-handed, sometimes single-handed, I came to the conclusion that my ideal boat would have the following characteristics:1) She would have to be small enough for me to handle alone without ever feeling pressed, but she would have to be roomy enough for couple to cruise comfortable for extended periods, and for two couples to use for a few days. 2) The construction and design had to be first rate. Though I would use her mainly for coastal cruising and passages of two or three days, she would have to be capable of taking almost everything the sea would throw at her, making her crew feel secure and keeping it comfortable.3) Having spent many nights in an open cockpit, cold, wet and miserable, I wanted a vessel with an enclosed pilot house, and since I had seen almost all sailboats use power at least as often as canvas, she would have to be a motorsailer, fast and economical under engine, and not a dog under sail.4) Above all, she would have to be beautiful. By this I mean that her form had to reflect her function in an unambiguous manner, and that when I came to her in her slip I would have to feel joy at seeing her.The Fisher 30 with her burdensome heavy displacement hull descended from North Sea fishing boats, her canoe stern, her heated pilot house that allowed me to use her the year around, her performance under both sail and power, and last but not least, her rugged good looks, fit all of these requirements. She has taken me all over the Mediterranean comfortably and efficiently, and she has turned heads wherever she has gone. I reluctantly put her on the market for reasons of health, knowing at least that the last boat I will own was the best. THERE WERE 1600 HOURS ON THE CLOCK BEFORE RECONDITIONING. THE ENGINE WAS PULLED OUT, TOTALLY DISASSEMBLED AND PUT TOGETHER AGAIN, WITH ALL THE PARTS SHOWING WEAR REPLACED.Contact the listing broker, Mitch Gutcho, for more information
