The visibility from below is excellent. A sliding glass door and large window on the aft cabin bulkhead make it easier for the skipper to back down and dock the boat when running it in the lower helm. Ventilation is increased with sliding screened windows in the. Cabin, an opening deck hatch, and ports in the galley and head compartment. A typical sedan layout, the Mainship 34 has a large salon on the same level as the cockpit, with loads of space for a settee, chair, table and built-in cabinetry. To port and two steps down, the U-shaped galley has good storage, a refrigerator and an alcohol/electric range. To starboard, an enclosed head compartment offers a separate shower stall with seat, a marine toilet, and a vanity with sink and mirror. The forward cabin has twin hanging lockers, a large V-berth with filler cushion and access to the rope locker. The Mainship 34 is a very unique cruiser, and a very popular boat. Classic lines define the 34. There is a wonderful, springy sheer forward and a well-flared bow that can punch into head seas. Below the waterline, the forward sections show a fairly deep, slightly raked stem and a sharp entry. There is a fun keel that starts where the stem curves aft and stops at a point just forward of the exposed prop shaft; it provides protection for the running gear and enhances tracking. The broad, flat after sections have rounded bilges and a four-degree deadrise for increased side-to-side stability and good lift at higher speeds increasing efficiency. With her trawler-style profile, sea kindly hull, and attractive interior, the Mainship 34 II is a good all-around family cruiser with a practical layout to go with her superb economy. Additional features include a roomy engine compartment, wide side decks, full wraparound cabin windows, foredeck mast, and teak interior trim.
