Electrical System:
AC System A single 30 amp system is available through a separate AC electrical panel with breakers for the outlets, hot water and battery charging system. Two 30 AMP power cords [25 , 50 ] are included. A 35 amp-hour battery charging system is in the engine compartment. The AC panel is bulkhead mounted in the companionway locker. A 600 watt inverter is installed under the navigation station table. DC System There is a single 12-volt deep-cycle starting battery. There are 4, six-volt Trojan batteries with approx. 500 amp-hour capacity as the house bank. Battery securing in process. Refrigeration System An EZ-Kold 12-volt holding plate system was installed in 1999. This system can be set at temperatures to freeze food or at slightly higher levels for refrigeration alone. The system is air-cooled but can function as water cooled in tropical conditions(pump included but not installed). The compressor is installed in the lower compartment of the dry storage outboard of the galley sink.Heating System A Webasto, diesel fired 40,000 btu furnace has heated Little Walk since installation for living aboard in Boston in 1992. Recent upgrades completed in March, 2001. The system functions like a hot water home heating system with heated fluid running through ductwork [hoses] to five fan-assisted double outlet heat exchangers on the starboard side of the vessel from the engine compartment aft to the V-berth forward. This system easily attained and held 70deg. F. at any winter temperature over two seasons in Boston, MA. This is a 12-volt system that also provides continuous hot water tank heating. With all fan-assisted heat exchangers functioning, the system draws approximately 6 amps per hour (3 from pump & .5 for each fan on heat exchangers).Interior Lighting 12-volt lighting is installed in all compartments with an additional red night light at the navigation station. Reading and area lighting is convenient for the expected use. All DC lighting is regulated through the electrical distribution panel. Additional halogen 12-volt lamps installed in galley, salon and in both sleeping quarters. Electrical Ventilation Three 12-volt fans are installed (2 sleeping areas + salon) and move considerable air. The two in the sleeping area are 2-speed, low-amp Hella Turbo s.
