In the early 80's OMC partnered with Bertram to install their outboard Sea Drive engines on about a dozen 28s. The engines were mounted directly on the transom. This Bertram 28 was one of those boats. Most importantly, the transom on these boats was beefed up to handle the direct mount application. The most recent retrofit was commissioned by a very knowledgable owner. The work was done by Embree Marine, a first class yard, here in St. Petersburg. There was attention paid to prop selection for maximum power band efficiency resulting in an impressive hull shot with no cavitation or porpoise all accomplished with no tabs applied and engines in a neutral trim. The top speed of 47 Mph was verified with no engine or tab trim. You will be impressed with the ride and balance. All yard records will be available to a serious buyer.

Accomodations:
The salon has a v-berth up front with new cushions, custom galley with corian counter tops, a SS sink, and a built in Icy Tech cooler. To starboard is a built-in dinette with new bench seating.

Mechanical Equipment:
This boat did a 104 mile run from Bokeelia to St. Pete at 35 MPH with a 17 knot head wind offshore and burned only 66 gallons of fuel. Twin Yamaha 250's with extended warranty to 2013 at a cost of $2500 per engine.Inside steering package with push button ignition at bridge.Throttle and Shift were left separate to make docking with wheel in neutral/centered position.Engines spaced 39" on center adds to maneuverability without using wheel.Engines will trim up completely out of the water with no binding at top of trim range.Top speed over ground verified at 47 Mph.Excellent hull shot with neutral engine and trim tabs.No cavitation on powered up tight turning radius with neutral trim.

Electonics and Navigational Gear:
AM/FM/CD Stereo system, MP-3 compatible, has additional switched amp that can be turned on to add extra punch at the flybridge when boat is up on a plane, and turned off when noise level drops to conserve power and still run speakers at lower volume.Furuno GPS.(2) ICOM VHF radios (upper & lower).

This boat has spent most of its life in fresh water.
