2006 Malibu Wakesetter 247 LSV. Powered by an 8.1L Indmar engine (450hp) Custom Stereo w/amp, Docking Lights, 2-outlet heater, bow ballast, power wedge, 1400lbs of ballast, mooring cover, bimini top w/ extension, Malibu precision speed control and an Illusion tower w/ racks.Trailer is not included but can be added.-WakesWithout any ballast, the Wakesetter 247 LSV alone is a whopping 4,000 pounds across a 102-inch beam. So when we filled the factory ballast to its impressive capacity 1,500 pounds in all we were displacing enough water to pump out a mini-ocean behind the boat. Riding those swells while hooked onto the standard Illusion X tower, we found them to be long and meaty, as you'd expect. Even better, they had an excellent, refined shape that was predictable, so we could set up and pull off advanced maneuvers. Just as it does on smaller boats, Malibu's new Power Wedge was an effective tool for sculpting the wakes further by adding the equivalent of even more ballast, up to 1,200 pounds' worth. We could go more mellow or more rampy with a few clicks of the switch at the dash. Gotta love it.HandlingAgain, credit goes to Malibu's design team. Long, wide V-drive wakeboarding boats don't have to handle like barges. The Wakesetter 247 LSV has an amazing synergy of elements, such as oversized tracking fins and an expertly engineered hull, to produce a big boat with considerably tight handling. The overall design is so balanced across the width of 102 inches that the stability is rock solid, even in big turns or powering through double-ups. Our test boat had the maxed-out power plant a Malibu 8100 Vortec with 450 horsepower so we can actually talk about impressive top-end speed and good hole shot on a boat that's just south of 25 feet long.ComfortWe have to use that word again: Wow. We aren't kidding when we say you could have an NBA player stretched out from the observer's seat and another one on the rear bench, and their high-tops wouldn't touch. The lounge is that long, and yet Malibu has cup holders, speakers and a cooler seemingly everywhere. Granted, the bow isn't as big as you might think on a boat this size, but we think adding more space to the lounge was worth it. The upholstery itself is heavy vinyl over cushy foam, with a stylish textured accent, called Diamond Grain, running through it. As we bounded across the open water, our testers enjoyed an extremely quiet, soft ride thanks to Malibu's solid sound- and vibration-dampening construction. One moRyan@thehouseboatstore.com
